Top 5 NYC Subway Apps

Transit App
The Transit app allows users to view all trains, buses, rails, car service including Uber, bikes? near you as soon as you open the app. Other similar apps provide similar information but not as soon as you open the app. In addition, the app will show any delays or service changes in real time. You can also sign up for alerts and the app will alert you of any service changes and delays. This app is not a New York focused app, it covers over 135 cities.

Google Maps

Google Maps allows you to plan your trip straight from google or google maps. For example, if I am going to a restaurant, I would google the name of the restaurant and under the restaurant (or any business) you will see directions and once you tap or click on directions and the little train icon, google will provide a plan for your trip. You might see more than one route and you choose the route that is more convenient for you.

My MTA
This is the MTA's new app for trip planning, service status, delays, and service changes. The con of this app is that you have to go through more steps as compared to the Transit app which provides the information you need directly from the home page or google maps which gives a plan for your trip by just googling the name of an establishment. If you are an elevator and escalator user this app is really useful in sharing elevator and elevator information.
